Job Title: Route/Switch (R/S) Engineer – Cisco SD-WAN & DNAC Deployment
Location: Onsite (Salina, Oklahoma & one additional facility)
Duration: 1 Month Project-based (with potential for extension)
This role requires a US Citizen to work onsite in Salina OK
Overview:
WWT is seeking a skilled and experienced Route/Switch Engineer to support a Cisco Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) deployment using the Viptela fabric, as well as a Cisco Digital Network Architecture Center (DNAC) deployment onsite. This role is part of a broader network transformation project, which includes the integration of two new network spokes into the existing SD-WAN fabric and centralized network management via DNAC.
This is a hands-on engineering role with opportunities to engage in knowledge transfer (OJT) for both SD-WAN and DNAC technologies. The engineer will work alongside a Route/Switch Architect, SOD resource, and other technical specialists as part of a collaborative delivery team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and configure Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) solution to integrate two new network spokes into the customer’s WAN environment.
- Participate in implementation and integration of Cisco DNAC to enable centralized management of enterprise networking assets including inventory, software upgrades, and policy-based provisioning.
- Assist with or lead onsite deployment of Cisco networking hardware (routers, switches, controllers) at both new and existing locations.
- Support the migration of existing configurations into the SD-WAN fabric ensuring minimal disruption to network services.
- Collaborate with Wireless Engineers for coordinated installation of Cisco Catalyst 9164i Access Points, replacing existing APs.
- Provide post-deployment support, troubleshooting, and issue remediation.
- Participate in informal knowledge-sharing and on-the-job training (OJT) sessions, including:
- 40 hours of SD-WAN OJT
- 24 hours of DNAC OJT
- Generate documentation, configuration templates, and update runbooks as necessary.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5 years of experience in enterprise networking, with a focus on Cisco Route/Switch environments.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco SD-WAN (preferably Viptela) – deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Cisco DNAC – understanding its role in automation, software lifecycle management, and assurance.
- Strong understanding of network routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), VLANs, and QoS concepts.
- Experience configuring and supporting Cisco Catalyst switches and ISR/ASR routers.
- Ability to work in onsite environments, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and lead implementation efforts.
- Comfortable with informal training scenarios and mentoring others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cisco certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, Cisco SD-WAN Specialist, or similar.
- Experience with wireless AP installations and coordination.
- Prior experience working with WWT or similar large-scale integrator environments.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Additional Notes:
- Wireless AP installation support is a potential optional activity. Salina, OK will receive approximately 115 Cisco Catalyst 9164i APs for removal/replacement.
- Onsite presence required for hands-on deployment and potential customer collaboration.
