Job Summary:
The Head Lifeguard is responsible for overseeing the safety and well-being of all guests in and around the aquatic facility. This role includes leading a shift of lifeguards, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and providing high-quality customer service. The Head Lifeguard plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for guests while supporting the operational needs of the aquatics department.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the lifeguard team, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and standards.
- Assist with leading in-service trainings twice a month for 2 hours
- Provide guidance and support to lifeguards
Safety and Emergency Response:
- Monitor and enforce pool and facility rules to ensure the safety of all guests. This position will be in the rotation as needed.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid as needed.
- Conduct regular safety checks of equipment and facilities to identify and address potential hazards.
Operational Duties:
- Implement lifeguard schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during operational hours. Calling staff members who are late/no show, fixing the rotation as needed.
- Assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas, reporting any issues to the appropriate maintenance staff.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, rescues, and any other relevant activities. Filling out end of shift report after shift.
Customer Service:
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner.
- Educate guests on safety rules and procedures to promote a safe swimming environment.
- Foster a welcoming and positive atmosphere within the facility.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Assist with training and evaluating lifeguard staff.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to safety incidents, staff performance, and other relevant activities.
Qualifications:
- Certifications: Current certification in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid. Additional certifications in water safety or emergency response are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a lifeguard

- Strong leadership and team management skills.

- Proficient in emergency response and first aid techniques.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of aquatic facility operations and safety standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including swimming, lifting, and performing rescues.
