What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper position at Worship Center?
A well-maintained, safe, smoothly functioning environment sets the stage for teaching, fellowship, and worship—allowing people to come together, know Jesus, and obey His teachings. The Groundskeeper is responsible for keeping the church’s grounds safe, clean, and attractive. This person reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Schedule
Full-time hourly non-exempt position, M-F 8:00-4:30, with possible additional hours at busy times and inclement weather.
Qualifications
- Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous lawn care and maintenance experience required.
- License/Certification: Valid PA driver’s license.
- Specific Abilities: Able to be on your feet for the shift. Physical stamina to handle constant physical demands of stooping, pushing, lifting, shoveling, etc.
What This Person Does
- Maintain lawns and flower beds.
- Trim and shape trees and shrubs.
- Control weed growth in drainage ditches and fence rows.
- Plant flowers, shrubs, and trees to maintain a seasonal color design.
- Clean up fall leaves and debris.
- Maintain a neat property appearance.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and parking areas.
- Maintain tools and equipment by sharpening, servicing, repairing, or scheduling major repairs.
- Oversee work done by outside contractors.
- Oversee part-time summer help for landscaping and mowing
- During the winter months, light building maintenance will be assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
