WAVE is currently looking for a Process Engineer to join our team!

Under the direction of the Plant Engineering Manager, the A Process Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. This role involves hands-on work with equipment and systems, utilizing tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drafting. Process Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams, including internal staff and external contractors, to troubleshoot issues, develop capital project proposals, and implement solutions. They focus on continuous improvement, applying methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma, and ensure processes meet regulatory standards while minimizing costs and maximizing productivity. Additionally, they provide training and technical support to ensure smooth operations on the shop floor.

- Identify high-risk safety hazards or risk tolerance and help to resolve them.
- Process Design & Optimization: Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and safety in manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Process Monitoring & Analysis: Continuously monitor process performance, collect data, and analyze trends to identify areas for improvement and to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- 3D Modeling & Drafting: Create and modify detailed process layouts, systems, and equipment designs using AutoCAD or 3D modeling software to perform rapid prototyping, test out and provide solutions
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with internal teams, including operations, maintenance, and quality control, as well as external contractors and suppliers, to ensure successful project execution and process enhancement.
- Capital Project Support: Assist in the development of capital project proposals (<$50K), including cost analysis, resource planning, equipment selection, and scheduling for new or upgraded processes.
- Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Lead root cause analysis for process-related issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation for process changes, equipment specifications, and project updates, and provide regular reports to management on process performance and improvements.
- Training & Mentorship: Provide technical support and training to shop floor staff and other team members on process improvements, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs through process optimization, waste reduction, and improved resource utilization.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all process changes and implementations meet safety standards and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Function as an adviser to other functional departments and external customers regarding tasks, projects, and processes; typically related to production, but may include maintenance.
- Analyze automated data collection to evaluate and assess operations strategy, support operations management.
- Achieve monthly operating plan metrics for safety, quality, cost, inventory, and PE%.
- Become the SME for the Infinity Quality System functioning as both the primary training resource and analyst of available system data.
- Assist operations and maintenance as needed.
- Safety Performance - OSHA rate, compliance to regulations/policies, and evidence of reducing risks.
- Productivity - PE%, MLF/MHR, material flow, and other metrics.
- Project / Task Completion - performance to schedule and budget goals.
- Education: Four (4) year degree in Engineering or Industrial Management. A minimum of five (5) years of progressive, shop floor experience and subject matter training may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Hands-on Experience: Proven track record in process engineering, with direct involvement in the implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting of manufacturing processes.
- 3D Drafting Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks for designing and modeling parts, assemblies, and systems to optimize production and operational efficiency.
- Collaboration with Tradespeople: Extensive experience working with both internal and external tradespeople to ensure seamless project execution and process improvements.
- Commitment to Quality: Strong dedication to delivering high-quality results through attention to detail, problem-solving, and overcoming obstacles.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, enabling effective interaction with team members, management, and external stakeholders.
- Capital Project Proposal Development: Experience in developing comprehensive proposals for capital projects (<$50K), including cost estimations, resource planning, and risk assessments.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions in dynamic manufacturing environments.
- Continuous Improvement Focus: Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process optimization and reduce waste.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook for documentation, presentations, and data analysis.
- Location: Position is located at Aberdeen, Maryland. Willingness to travel 10% to other WAVE locations, Vendor / Supplier facilities and training events.

- Process observation on the floor: 30%
- 3D part drawing and drafting: 40%
- Data analysis: 15%
- $15K-$50K project management: 15%
- 4 days/week work at the plant (20% WFH; available incentive)
