What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production and Inventory Control Manager position at Worthington Steel?
The Production & Inventory Manager is responsible to plan, control, and manage the flow of finished product and inventory levels in the most efficient and cost-effective way to meet customer demand. He/She will manage the Production Scheduler(s), Production Coordinator(s) and Materials/Inventory Coordinator to ensure the proper jobs (shipping dates) are scheduled in with the correct steel and availability of the dies and presses.
Essential Functions
Coordinates the Chicago plant's production by scheduling jobs based on customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities, while helping to maximize productivity
Makes final decisions concerning what jobs go into production
Follows through verifying all scheduled jobs are properly placed and run on time
Makes proper decisions pertaining to customer needs, material needs, and production capacity
Resolves scheduling problems and the differences between customer needs, Sales, Customer Service personnel, and plant personnel
Plant Problem Resolution (Determine course of action for inoperable plant equipment, product shipment variations, etc.)
Responsible for maintaining Kan-Ban systems, safety stock, and an adequate level of finished goods
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (Operations, Industrial or Engineering Management preferred)
5 years' experience in production planning or materials management
Experience with an ERP system; ability to easily extract data (Oracle preferred)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced experience with Excel)

Our base pay for this position is $120k to $130k reflective of the candidates' experience.
