Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. As an Insurance Verification Specialist, you will be responsible for daily insurance verifications for new patients and referrals, ensuring accurate and up-to-date insurance information for existing patients, and obtaining prior authorizations for applicable payers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits.
- Review patient medical records and be familiar with reviewing procedure notes and lab work.
- Obtain prior authorizations from relevant payers to facilitate seamless healthcare services.
- Communicate effectively with the intake department to obtain new and updated insurance information promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and standards in the insurance verification and authorization processes.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma Education or Associate’s preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance or Business
- Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in insurance verification and prior authorization within a healthcare setting, preferably wound care.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance verification processes and procedures, familiarity of managed care plans required.
- Experience using Waystar, Availity and Microsoft Excell.
- Strong understanding of prior authorization requirements and processes.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with multi-state insurance policies is a plus.
