Overview
The Wound Care Clinical Educator (CE) is an integral member of the wound care and hyperbaric medicine center and liaisons between the hospital wound center and other community stakeholders caring for chronic wound patients. The CE is primarily responsible for developing and executing the overarching educational and awareness strategies of the wound care and hyperbaric center to community stakeholders. The CE will work cross-functionally with the wound care center and other hospital designees to identify and cultivate relationships with community providers, other ancillary healthcare organizations (e.g., FSEDs, urgent cares, home health agencies, SNFs, LTACHs), and hospital-based departments (e.g., ED, Hospitalists, Interventional Cardiologists/Radiologists) promoting the clinical capabilities and clinical advantages of the hospital based wound care and hyperbaric center as well as the necessary services needed from these ancillary resources to ensure an effective community based limb salvage program.

Responsibilities:
1. Compliance:
a. complies with all HIPAA policies specific to patient confidentiality and release of information;
b. maintains strict confidentiality with all patient information;
c. remains current on HIPAA, OSHA, Infection Control, patient safety, and other mandatory regulations, standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
2. Communications and Relationship Building:
a. communicates in a positive and professional manner;
b. possesses excellent listening skills and demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills with internal and external constituents;
c. exhibits persuasive presentation skills and develops long term trust with stakeholders through effective performance and helpful issue resolution;
d. broadens understanding through proactive communication and understanding of inherent stakeholder challenges with chronic wound patients;
e. favors practical choices, speed, and possesses a respect for logical sequencing;
f. focuses on priorities, meets deadlines, and seeks help when blocked;
g. escalates issues that require intervention from either the provider or hospital appropriately and timely.
3. Clinical Educator Duties:
a. develops an annual stakeholder education and informational plan capturing the initiatives and activities increasing awareness among community stakeholders;
b. develops and maintains a community stakeholder relationship database along with a systematic approach to identifying the appropriate call cycle as well as identifying new entrants and/or stakeholders;
c. assists with the content creation for educational and informational materials that support the center’s clinical offerings and services;
d. presents to community stakeholders the merits of the center, including educating and informing community constituents how to identify appropriate wound etiologies.
e. assembles informational packets educating community stakeholders of the various wound etiologies, appropriate care pathways, and identifying/remedying potential patient access obstacles;
f. understands the center’s operations and clinical capabilities to convey to community stakeholders enlisting the center’s resources how to access, navigate, and follow patient movement;
g. prepares quarterly reports updating all educational initiatives;
4. Critical Thinking and Problem Solving:
a. identifies and adequately researches issues, develops collaborative, inclusive solutions, and solves problems;
b. deploys effective conflict resolution and pivots easily to diffuse situations while maintaining composure and empathy when encountering an aggravated customer.
5. Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience Qualifications:
1. A bachelor’s degree either in nursing or other health related field is required, a master’s degree preferred.
2. Experience developing community stakeholder assessments and education plans.
