What are the responsibilities and job description for the Domestic Violence Response Specialist Court Liaison position at WRAP?
Overview
Reporting to the Family Justice Center Project Director and on-site at the Safe Hope Center Family Justice Center, this position builds a strong evidence-based, trauma-informed practice that assists, supports, and advocates for survivors of domestic violence, that promotes trust and communication with survivors and between survivors and law enforcement/judicial systems, that weaves together a supportive network of formal and informal community-based resources for survivors, that facilitates warm transfers/connections to other survivors, WRAP direct service professionals, FJC multi-disciplinary partners, community-based service providers, and the community-at-large.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Develops and cultivates relationships with the Family Justice Center multidisciplinary team, courts, other allied professionals, and community partners with the goals of facilitating a coordinated community response to domestic violence, strengthening outreach to survivors, and ensuring access to quality, trauma-informed services.
- Initiates and/or participates in awareness-raising events.
- Develops in-depth knowledge of and expertise in best and evidence-informed practice in the domestic violence field and keeps abreast of latest developments in best and evidence-informed practice.
- Provides training for the agency and for allied professionals in best and evidence-informed practice in the domestic violence field.
- Participates in training in trauma-informed, evidence-based practice for survivors of domestic violence.
Team Participation
- Works with Family Justice Center, community partners, law enforcement, the courts and court staff, government entities and others to ensure survivors are receiving the highest quality of trauma-informed support as they negotiate these systems.
- Collaborates with Family Justice Center and WRAP team members to ensure that the needs of all survivors (phone-in, walk-in) are addressed timely and compassionately in a trauma-informed manner.
- Contributes articles and activities of interest to the WRAP and FJC community
Direct Service to Clients:
- Works with FJC team to deliver trauma-informed best practice crisis stabilization and supportive advocacy services in keeping with WRAP’s evidence-informed practice model to survivors of domestic violence who call WRAP’s Helpline or general information line for help and/or who send requests for help via WRAP’s Facebook page or website.
- Identifies and implements evidence-informed practices in and innovative approaches to working with survivors of domestic violence in crisis to address immediate needs (e.g. court accompaniment, orders of protection, food/clothing) and makes warm referrals to others as available and appropriate for higher level or longer term needs and/or support.
- Provides court accompaniment/advocacy to the weekly City Court/Domestic Docket; General Sessions Court dockets (Order of Protections and Criminal); and the 26th Judicial District Division of Criminal Circuit Court.
- Provides trauma-informed, evidence-based support for survivors’ higher level or longer term needs and/or support in the absence of other options, using remote meeting technology (FaceTime, Zoom) in addition to in-person meetings to the extent practicable and/or comfortable and safe for a survivor.
- Supports implementation of new programs and practices to facilitate improved outcomes for survivors.
- Follows established performance standards of quality and tracks/evaluates performance to assure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Participates in agency meetings, Family Justice Center Circle meetings, individual supervision and contributes to agendas of said meetings.
- Serves on the WRAP DV Crisis On-Call Team rotation as assigned.
- Develops and documents in Apricot an action plan with goals and outcomes for every survivor receiving in-person services.
- Documents in Apricot all court advocacy services provided, including demographic information on perpetrators, dates for petitions and awards of orders of protection, and any other related court action.
- Maintains timely, accurate, and complete case records for every survivor served.

Education:
BSW or equivalent with at least 2 years’ direct experience.
