What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Patient Account Representative position at Wray Community District Hospital?
The Lead Patient Accounts Representative will assist in overseeing a team of financial counselors and registration staff within a healthcare setting for patients as it pertains to the duties of Patient Financial Counselors and Registration staff. The team lead will also be responsible for overseeing patient registration and other front-office admissions tasks on the job training and continued education of team members, ensuring accurate patient financial assessments, resolving complex billing issues, maintaining revenue cycle efficiency, acting liaison between patients, insurance companies, and internal departments to optimize patient financial experiences. Lead Patient Accounts Representative reports to the Revenue Cycle Supervisor and Revenue Cycle Director.
Duties of a Patient Financial Counselor: Primary contact for patients seeking medical services financial assistance, insurance eligibility determination, precertification of insurance coverage and investigation of denials. Focuses on uninsured, underinsured and credit risk patients. Obtains pre- and post-admission payment terms from patients. Knowledge of regulations regarding financial eligibility for government medical assistance programs and knowledge of medical terminology is required. Position reports to Patient Accounts/Business Office Manager.
Duties of a Registration Staff member: Receives incoming patients for hospitalization; interviews patient or relative to obtain identifying information and other data for admission. Collects initial payment or refers patient to credit office. Assigns patient to appropriate ward. Prepares discharge and other records.
Preferred Experiences:

· Minimum 5 years patient financial counseling experience or equivalent

Hourly compensation range: $21.55 – 29.15 (includes Lead differential), base wage dependent on experience.
