General Definition of Work
This position performs difficult advanced human support work planning, coordinating, and administering County health promotion programs and collaborating with Department colleagues, community partners, and managers in the assessment, planning and administration of public health programs. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Public Health Supervisor.

- Coordinates and administers assigned County health promotion programs and participates in the assessment, planning, evaluation, and administration of various public health programs.
- Conducts or organizes training for County staff, community organizations, program volunteers and the general public.
- Participates in the development of program goals, objectives, and timelines; carries out program objectives and evaluates effectiveness; develops written reports; monitors and adjusts as necessary.
- Promotes public health programs; participates in public health emergency preparedness functions.
- Interprets Department, County, Regional, State, and Federal policies, requirements, and standards to develop program plans.
- Contributes to the development of the Department budget.
- Assists community organizations with health policy development.
- Performs other duties and activities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in community health education, public health, nursing, or related field, and one year of experience in public health or human services, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Child Passenger Safety Technician, Transporting Children with Special Health Care Needs, Children and Restraint Systems Instructor, Child Care Training, Sudden Unexpected Infant Death and Abusive Head Trauma Trainer certifications may be required all within two years of employment.
A valid driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility is also required upon hire.

Knowledge of public health, epidemiologic, and environmental theories, principals, practices and processes as these relate to communities, systems, individuals and families; knowledge of socioeconomic factors which promote and maintain optimal health for individuals, families, communities, and systems; knowledge of local, State, and Federal laws, rules, regulations, and policies pertaining to assigned area; knowledge of data privacy practices; knowledge of community agencies and resources; knowledge of computer systems and programs used to administer Human Service programs; knowledge of, or ability to learn, County government work flows and processes; knowledge of budgeting principles sufficient to provide input into a Department budget and manage assigned budget responsibilities; skill in the use of standard office equipment, including computers and software programs; ability to perform data entry into various databases; verbal and written communication skills sufficient to effectively present information and respond to questions from a wide variety of audiences; reading comprehension skills sufficient to read and understand medical, legal and technical documents; interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange and or convey information, receive work direction, and maintain effective working relationships; ability to schedule and provide work direction to volunteer staff; ability to pay attention to detail and effectively organize time and anticipate, plan and successfully respond to changing circumstances; ability to perform all job duties in compliance with safety guidelines and with an ongoing awareness of safety practices; ability to communicate courteously and professionally while maintaining positive working relationships with others when carrying out all job functions.
Physical Requirements
