Wright-Pierce, an award-winning, multi-discipline environmental engineering firm specializing in water, wastewater and civil infrastructure, is seeking a Control System Technician to join our team. The Control Systems Technician will work with our Engineering Design Team to implement and commission PLC / SCADA based control systems for water and wastewater projects.
- This position can work out of our Maine (Topsham, Portland) or New Hampshire (Bedford, Portsmouth) offices.ResponsibilitiesWork with the engineering design team to implement and commission PLC / SCADA based control systems for water and wastewater related projectsApplication development for a variety of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software and graphical interface terminals such as those manufactured by Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE, Trihedral, Wonderware and Maple SystemsMeet with internal teams and clients to understand the project objective and how it relates to the control systemProvide onsite commissioning and startup support for new and existing control systemsControl panel design and testing; provide onsite control panel modificationsField instrumentation installation, maintenance, troubleshootingDocument and maintain control system information, programing files and activities logsAssisting in creation of CAD schematics and user operation manuals (O&M)Travel to job sites in New England states as neededEssential FunctionsRead and understand process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), control loop drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagramsDiagnosing and modifying existing programs to meet customer needs Familiarity with field instrumentation devices, control components (relays, timers, power supplies) and industrial drive systems (VFDs, soft starters, motor contactors)Able to build collaborative relationships with clients and coworkersExcellent written and verbal communication, organization and time management skillsExperience3-5 years of work experience in control system programming requiredPrior experience in Water / Wastewater related infrastructure considered a plusProficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook) & AutoCAD requiredKnowledge of industrial networking : Ethernet IP, Modbus, industrial wireless, HART desiredProficiency with PC-based programming languages : Rockell Logix 500 and Logix5000, Schneider Modicon, Operator interfaces (OIT), HMI Software, Windows Server platforms, HTML, My SQL, Access desiredEducationAssociate degree in electrical, computers, robotics or similar fieldCertificationCertified Control Systems Technician Equal Opportunity EmployerAt Wright-Pierce we are committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity and inclusion.
