What you will be doing
- Ascertaining that all tradesmen are well qualified and are efficiently carrying out duties assigned.
- Reviewing the job schedule, and estimated man hours, material take offs, etc.
- Resolving all differences of opinion with Project Manager at the beginning of the job.
- Setting up the job office and equipment trailers and seeing that permits, labor notices, safety rules and regulations and E.E.O.C. material are posted in a conspicuous place.
- Seeing that safety regulations are followed by tradesmen, including subcontractor crews. Safety meetings must be adequately attended.
- Having a thorough knowledge of the plans and specifications for each project assigned.
- Maintaining a high standard of quality control at all times.
- Keeping the progress schedule current, reviewing schedule status and job costs on an ongoing basis.
- Maintaining inventory control over tools and equipment, ascertaining that moveable tools are returned to the tool area and all other equipment adequately secured.
- Insuring that all as-built plans are accurate and up to date.
- Client management skills; ability to manage customer relationships, perceptions and expectations
- Ability to communicate effectively and deal diplomatically with coworkers other tradesmen.
- Possess a valid driving license and willing to travel
- Maintain a positive attitude and willing to work in a team environment.
- Assisting inspectors on their project reviews.
- Attending on request, all technical meetings for the purpose of discussing job progress and problem areas.
- Practice good safety habits. Follow instructions and meet set standards.
- 5 years as a superintendent, preferably with a commercial mechanical contractor specializing in heavy commercial projects (hotels, high-rise buildings, hospitals, schools, etc.)
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred
