What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at WSM MEP, Inc.?
Responsibilities
· Order Management:
· Releasing orders, tracking ETA, and accepting deliveries.
· Following up on orders to make sure ETAs don’t change.
· Processing replacements for warranty issues.
Purchase Orders:
Shops for general materials to get the best price.
Verifies quoted equipment orders and releases them according to when they are needed on site, accounting for storage time, and ensuring it will not affect the warranty terms.
Warehouse Management:
Organizes and labels the warehouse with project orders.
Maintains a clean and orderly warehouse.
Schedules orders from the warehouse to the job site and coordinates deliveries with the delivery driver.
Vendor Management:
Grow and nurture relationships with vendors/suppliers to maximize buying power and leverage the best pricing on project-related expenses.
Work with vendors on discounted pricing.
Requirements
· Experience in purchasing and vendor management.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to track and manage multiple orders simultaneously.
· Familiarity with warehouse organization and staging.
· Excellent communication skills for coordinating deliveries and managing relationships with vendors.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
· Proven experience as a buyer, purchasing agent, or in a similar role.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
· Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
Summary
As a Purchasing Agent, you will be integral to the procurement process, responsible for sourcing and negotiating with vendors to secure the best prices and terms for our organization. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will utilize your core skills in purchasing and supply chain management, to optimize inventory and streamline operations. Your strong communication and organizational skills will be essential in managing vendor relationships and ensuring timely delivery of materials, ultimately contributing to the efficiency and success of our supply chain.
