This Opportunity
Provides subject matter technical planning support, project management, and business leadership to contribute to WSP’s strategic plan for transit and rail development in the Mountain Pacific region; leads public transportation planning studies that will include a wide range of planning efforts including Alternatives Analyses, short and long range service planning, FTA program administration, FTA compliance oversight, and feasibility studies for bus and rail facilities and operations; provides support for capturing and analyzing work site information, geographical resources, and spatial and tabular data to inform and create plans for the safe movement of people and products by all modes of transport, to optimize logistics / scheduling / systems, and to account for the economic, social, and environmental impact of projects and initiatives. Provides guidance for multi-site / phase planning projects, site and impact assessment, the preparation of general plans, specific / master plans, public involvement, and regulatory compliance for a variety of client projects relating to equitable transportation development and construction, transportation demand management, mobility planning, multimodal access, surface transportation, and funding. Ensures planning-related project elements and processes are conveyed and acted upon with a high level of quality and compliance to accurately address impact, long-term risks, and future ready solutions by applying and integrating transportation, environmental, and regional planning. Responsible for providing situational guidance to clients, team members, and managers ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.
Your Impact
- Manages, conducts, and / or assists with a range of transportation planning studies, including needs assessments, transit modal analyses, traffic studies, transit facility design, NEPA documentation, and long-range planning.
- Assists in the continued development of a client base for providing high-level transportation planning services including identifying additional business development opportunities and engaging in proposal writing and submission.
- Prepares and gives briefings and makes presentations to clients, the general public, and other stakeholders.
- Provides oversight with data collection efforts for identifying and compiling observational, spatial, and environmental data concerning a variety of matrices for projects, research, and surveys.
- Prepares, completes, and / or reviews general plans, specific / master plans, community plans, zoning codes, comprehensive plans, permitting policies and / or development standards for assigned projects, with a particular emphasis on transportation and multimodal accommodation. Ensures technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to plan, address, prevent, control, or restore larger-scale planning challenges and complex problems.
- Performs professional transportation planning work and conducts investigations, inspections, studies, and surveys to gain further information on a particular problem or issue, verify site characteristics, and / or to plan for future needs affecting equitable development, construction, transportation demand management, mobility planning, and multimodal access.
- Prepares data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, models, infographics, cross-sections, and 3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of more complex and larger scale data, findings, or analyses.
- Prepares applications and represents clients in the approval process with local and regional jurisdictions.
- Prepares, coordinates, and facilitates public involvement and consensus-building meetings in support of client project work, answering public questions on behalf of the client, and assisting with long-range planning efforts on larger-size or more complex projects.
- Reads, interprets, composes, and reviews Planning Reports, Categorical Exclusions, EA’s, EIRs, and other technical documents.
- Oversees and monitors cross-functional teams in executing project work, approval or permitting strategy, impact assessments, and regulatory strategy, including project budgets, tracking hours and expenses, and task completion.
- Provides high-level oversight for desk-based research and site work, including measurements, data interpretation, demographics, patterns and trends, and computer modeling.
- Provides analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of facts and data obtained during field and site investigations, offering input with developing action plans for more significant to high-level challenges and development activities to minimize impacts to the community, population, local economy, and environment.
- Coordinates with clients, resource agencies, and planning and technical staff, providing a high level of strategic advice, consultancy, and subject matter expertise.
- Mentors staff to support their growth and professional development.
- Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
- Remains current in latest transportation planning subject matter, practices, regulations, and techniques.
- Exercises responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adheres to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Performs additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Compensation :
Expected Salary (Colorado only) : $97,100 - $162,470
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and / or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and / or federal law.
