This Opportunity
WSP is currently recruiting for a Fulltime biological monitor for Projects in Nevada to conduct Biological Monitoring for on-going projects and new projects. This position will require extensive work outside in a range of ecosystems ranging from mountain habitats to desert scrub areas throughout the western US. The project biologist will be responsible for conducting field surveys, collecting appropriate data, and analyzing the data to comply with project requirements as well as consistency with project mitigation Monitoring Plans. Generous Per Diem will be provided.

Compensation
Expected Salary: $29.04- $39.93
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Your Impact
- Conduct Reconnaissance-level Biological Resource Surveys in a variety of habitats
- Recording field data in a standardized notebook/digital collector
- Document plant and wildlife species identified during field surveys
- Provide regular updates to field and management
- Positively interact with Construction and other crews
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field.
- 1 to 3 years of experience working as a biological Monitor
- Experience handling Desert Tortoises under permit authorization
- Prior experience with GIS software and Trimble GPS units and ability to use technology for data collection.
- Analytical biology skills, and experience with research techniques, local/regional ecology and habitats, and applicable species/discipline required.
- Highly familiar with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
- Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
