Our Property & Buildings Team is seeking a Full-Time Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineering Co-op to work out of our Philadelphia, PA office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program through Drexel University.
This co-op is anticipated to take place during the Spring and Summer 2025 semesters. The anticipated dates of this co-op are March 31st - September 19th as part of the Drexel Co-op Program. Start dates may be flexible.

- Learn Revit/AutoCAD to model building construction and renovation projects.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop engineering drawings and specifications.
- Become familiar with reading and interpreting building plans and plumbing/fire protection diagrams.
- Create plumbing and fire protection plans and designs.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the engineering required for the plumbing/fire protection design process.
- Travel to job sites to survey and review existing buildings and construction progress through various stages of a project.
- Acquire knowledge of various engineering standards and codes.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations to clients.
- Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this co-op/internship.
Required Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related Undergraduate program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of September 2025 or later.
- Must be 18 or older.
- Demonstrated interest in Plumbing & Fire Protection, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related Masters or PhD program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of September 2025 or later.
- Experience using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
