What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at WSS?
POSITION OVERVIEW
Physically and systemically receive goods into inventory by performing a wide variety of distribution center receiving related activities - unloading, sorting, separating, auditing, labeling, systemically receiving and staging. Also supports moving and handling supplies, and other materials being brought into the facility.
Schedule:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not limited to the following receiving activities)
- Operate a Radio Frequency gun to scan license plates, receive goods into the Korber One system
- Operate a radio frequency gun to validate MSRP in Aptos system
- Unload shipments from trucks, containers
- Sorts, separate goods as required prior to receiving by PO, Style, and Size
- Communicate in a professional manner with Compliance Coordinator, receiving lead and Inventory Control department as needed to keep them informed of key PO issues and or changes
- Inspect goods per standard procedures and identifies shipment discrepancies and vendor compliance issues
- Properly label cartons, totes as required to identify goods with license plates or other identification
- Perform safe operation of warehouse material handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts, reach truck, motorized pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, next-a-flex conveyor, Destuff-it, Rite-Hite wheel chock and push carts
- Maintain ongoing housekeeping and orderliness
- Maintain neat and accurate inventory positions in Dock/Distro Area
- Communicate issues and problems on a timely basis to management team members
- Interacts with other areas and communicates to other resources in the DC concerning receiving status, discrepancies, etc.
- May be occasionally asked to perform responsibilities using skills from previous roles such as picking, replenishment, other specialist positions, etc. when business needs dictate

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMETNS
Knowledge of:
- Safe lifting and material handling techniques involving the use of common warehouse equipment
- Safe lifting, turning, stacking techniques of material handling
- Basic warehouse concepts of inventory controls, product movement
Skills and Abilities:
- Work safely and follow all safe practices without exception; report all safety incidents and injuries promptly

- Must be able to or be trainable to operate a forklift truck
- Work productively and at a consistent pace over the course of the shift

- Maintain excellent two-way communication with supervisors and other DC employees
- Record and maintain documents and records where required
- Perform basic math computations such as add, subtract, multiply and divide

Education and / or Experience Requirements
No formal experience in warehouse operations is required.
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Working Conditions
Environment:
The working environments may include warm / cold / dry / damp conditions that will be encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position will include indoor, outdoor, office and warehouse environments.
Physical Abilities:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to:
- Bend and twist at the waist, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, kneel or squat while maneuvering boxes, and other items into place for up to 4 to 8 hours per shift or as needed for OT
- Lift up to 40 lbs. from ground level to above shoulders repeatedly over the course of the shift
- Hear and speak to communicate effectively in person, on the phone and via email
