What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resource Center Manager position at Wu Yee Children's Services?
In collaboration with Regional Manager and Center Manager, the Resources Center Manager is responsible to travel and support daily operations at the centers, in accordance with State licensing requirements, Federal regulations, and program policies and procedures. S/he takes the lead in articulating program philosophy and communication of expectations with staff, families and the community served. The Resource Center Manager is responsible for filling the vacancy of a Center Manager and supporting Center Managers in various aspects, not limited to providing direct mentorship, supervision, and coaching to all teaching staff and assuring quality service delivery for children and families.
Location: must be able to travel to all sites.
Responsibilities Include:
- Support the Center Manager to manage daily operations, ensuring the center is fully staffed to maintain required Title 5 adult-child ratios, and that staff, volunteers, and interns are properly trained and follow program performance standards and Wu Yee policies.
- Support in the classroom and field trips as needed.
- When all sites are fully staffed support Site Center Managers on meeting city, state, and federal funding requirements at the largest centers.
- Support Center Managers to facilitate family orientations, case management meetings, consultations, staff and family meetings.
- Develop and maintain a safe, healthy, nurturing, and culturally relevant center environment for all children and families.
- Understand, follow, and monitor that all center activities are conducted in accordance with licensing requirements, Head Start Performance Standards, and California Department of Education regulations.
- Monitor the performance of staff through analysis of reports, direct observation of practices and develop professional development plans to evaluate their performance.
- Maintain regular and timely communication with all program staff to facilitate effective program performance.
- Ensure documentation of all significant contacts with families and maintain up-to-date file records for all children, including attendance and meal count records.
- Collaborate with the management team to arrange and facilitate meetings and mandated training at the center.
- Submit monthly reports on direct service activities and status to the Regional Manager and the Content Team as needed.
- Provide leadership and training to the Center Managers and teaching staff on early childhood best practices in accordance with program philosophy and curriculum.
- Review child screening and assessment data and understand school readiness goals to support adaptations to classroom environments and lesson plans to increase skill-building opportunities for all children.
- Encourage and promote family’s participation in center activities, field trips, special events, and the Family Committee and Policy Council; Provide orientations for parent and community volunteers, as needed.
- Ensure children with special needs and/or suspected delay receive individualized care and classroom modifications; escalate concerns to the Education Manager, Disabilities/Mental Health Manager, and Multi-disciplinary team.
- Work with program staff to ensure IFSP/IEP goals are supported through integration in lesson plans and classroom routines; provide guidance to teaching staff and volunteers for meeting individual needs.
- Communicate with program staff, the Mental Health Consultant and Family Advocate about concerns or issues related to a child’s development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
- Minimum 3 years direct supervisory experience in an early childhood center with a staff of more than 15 employees.
- Demonstrates excellent writing and oral communication skills.
- Capacity to plan, deliver and implement and evaluate early childhood training.
- Experience working with culturally diverse staff and families desired .
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or relevant field preferred; Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education desired.
- A valid California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or ability to receive in 6 months.
