General Description
This position provides the necessary coordination of the Trauma/Emergency Care System accountability process to assure compliance with requirements in WV Code 55-7B-9c and dictated by WV Legislative Rule 64CSR27. This position works closely with hospital and EMS administration, physician, surgeons, nurses and emergency medical service providers and is responsible for confidential patient, facility and agency information. The Medical Review Coordinator prepares region specific data for seven (7) regions on a quarterly basis for the Regional Medical Review Committee (RMRC) and State Medical Review Committee (SMRC) quality improvement data. Utilization, manipulation and analysis of WV State Trauma Registry data for quarterly regional state trauma data acquisition for predefined state and regional Trauma Performance Improvement (Pl) initiatives. Develops and processes all official correspondences related to the WV OEMS Medical Review process. Assure Trauma Center compliance with monthly submission of valid WV OEMS Trauma Performance Improvement (Pl) initiative reports and aggregates data for presentation. Continued development, implementation and evaluation of the WV OEMS Medical Review and Quality Assurance process per Legislative Rule 64CSR27. Investigates medical review and performance improvement cases as directed by WV OEMS Leadership and requested by Regional Medical Directors. Process requests for autopsies as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited four-year college or university and two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse.
OR
Successful completion of an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a diploma nursing program and three years of experience as a registered professional nurse.
OR
Professional certification from a recognized national nursing certifying organization as a nurse or nurse practitioner in the area of assignment plus two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse.
OR
Successful completion of an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a diploma nursing program; plus baccalaureate degree in the health sciences or behavioral sciences and two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in nursing.
OR
Master's degree in nursing from an accredited four-year college or university.
Special Requirement: Current West Virginia license or temporary permit to practice as a registered professional nurse.
