What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Intern position at WVU Medicine?
Performs day-to-day activities under the supervision and direction of pharmacy supervisors / staff pharmacists. Assists the Pharmacist in the preparation, delivery and documentation of the medication dispensing, clerical and secretarial activities of the pharmacy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND / OR LICENSURE :
1. High School degree or equivalent.
2. Registered with the WVBOP as a registered intern.

1. Delivers medications to different hospital areas and picks up when necessary.
2. Operates required equipment in accordance with job duties.
3. Provides all filing for patients and completes patient charges throughout the day.
4. Processes returned medications and returns to stock, when applicable.
5. Prepares medications for dispensing to patients and records pertinent data.
6. Maintains a full stock of medications, including controlled substances and narcotics; maintains proper records dispensing, disposal, and stock.
7. Maintains pre-packaging medications with adequate backup.
8. Prepares pre-mixed IVs and piggybacks for distribution and sets up admixtures for preparation under pharmacist supervision.
9. Demonstrates appropriate patient / family / self-safety practices.
10. Answers phones and may address questions within their scope of practice. Forwards calls to pharmacist if needed.
