Position Overview
WW Clyde is seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to join our team in Orem, Utah. Our collaborative environment fosters innovation and teamwork, driving the successful completion of complex infrastructure projects. This position plays a vital role in developing accurate, competitive bids for large-scale projects, ensuring WW Clyde maintains its industry leadership.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on Department of Transportation (DOT) projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil projects, including highways, bridges, and large-scale site development. Primary focus will be on earthwork (mass haul, site balance, large scraper and haul truck utilization, shrink, and well).
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to assess scope and project requirements.
- Perform comprehensive takeoffs to estimate costs accurately.
- Develop precise cost projections for various scopes of work.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather and verify data.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Conduct risk assessments and propose value engineering solutions.
- Ensure compliance with company and DOT standards throughout the estimating process.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to collect project-specific details.
- Track and analyze historical cost data to enhance future estimates.
- Maintain and update the estimating cost database.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, with a preference for managing projects valued between $10 million and $80 million.
- Extensive experience with DOT projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent technical training and experience).
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong negotiation skills and keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with software tools including Trimble Business Center, Primavera P6, Building Connected, and Viewpoint.
