Wyckoff Farms Inc. is a vertically Integrated, Lower Valley Agricultural Organization seeks to fill a Seasonal Field Safety Specialist within our Grandview, WA locations.
Position Description:
The Safety specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, employee safety program that is designed to ensure continuous availability of fruit and vegetable products consistent with compliance standards. The incumbent will travel to all departments to train and audit safety programs and maintain compliance with federal and state safety regulations. This position reports to the Food and Safety Director.
Primary functions:
· Help engage the workforce and help promote an employee safety culture.
· Assist in ensuring all required annual training is done and tracked and kept on file ie. Tractor, ATV, WPS, Forklift, etc.
· Assist in educating and training staff members to utilize proper procedures
· Demonstrate proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), appropriate tools and procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
· Assist the Food and Safety director on the implementation and compliance of safety programs in the field and verify that these programs meet company, regulatory and third-party standards.
· Collect, organize, file and prepare documents and reports on all field compliance activities and records pertinent to employee safety.
· Assist in preparing for and participating in internal and external regulatory inspections. To include corrective actions, fertilizer application records, plant protection applications and procedures, integrated pest management, water sampling, soil management, and employee safety.
· Pursue a WISHA10 certification and other relevant related certifications.
· Schedule and deliver field safety meetings and reports.
· Assist in auditing accident reports, safety meeting minutes, and report findings to Food and Safety Director.
· Assist in updating and reviewing field safety and regulatory bulletin boards for compliance.
Secondary Functions:
· Attend horticulture and industry educational meetings and pesticide and safety seminars.
· Coordinate annual CPR certification class for all department supervisors and crew leaders.
Qualifications:
· Must be action oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
· Bilingual in English/Spanish, comfortable translating in large outdoor groups
· One to two years of experience in agriculture a plus
· Working knowledge of employee safety and OSHA/Labor & Industries regulations a plus
· Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal/written communication skills
· Capable computer skills, including Excel, Word, and other computer data entry/storage
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to work in varied outdoor environments, include day travel 50-75% of time (specifically during harvests).
· Job responsibilities require minimal restrictions in mobility and/or severe limitations in eyesight, hearing or speech.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
