NYSDOH Standards, Policies and Regulations and applies them appropriately.
Has adequate age specific and nutritional knowledge/skills to conduct nutrition participant centered assessment and counseling
Has adequate knowledge of WICSIS and capable to perform all WICSIS related functions in all aspects of WIC services.
Performs within the guidelines of the WIC Program.
Determines participants nutritional needs and risks by obtaining diet history, food habits and preferences in order to provide realistic nutrition counseling.
Accurately converts, calculates, collects, measures, interprets and enters in WICSIS all needed information.
Prepares timely and appropriate High Risk Care Plan. Implement participant centered nutrition assessment to achieve realistic goals and behavioral change among clients.
Provides timely documentation and facilitates individual and group nutrition contacts. Facilitate
Group Discussion appropriately.
Conducts FGDs, PCNAs using the TLC principles and techniques
Timely completion of special duties/projects assigned such as BF, PC coordination, OA checklist, Outreach, etc.
Prescribes/authorizes appropriate categorical food package for participants.
Accurately prints and issues all types of WIC checks using NYSDOH policies and procedures.
Accurately completes the Nutritionist's Daily Log for submission
Consistently turns out good volume of work (No. of participants seen at certification, check authorization, HR counseling).
Performs special assignments and other initiates as mandated by the WIC Program.
Carefully reviews nutritional assessment data and other information to provide appropriate nutrition counseling.
Carefully reviews requests for special formula, approves, disapproves or recommends alternative formula following WIC regulations.
Consults/seeks advise in matter of uncertainty or under unusual circumstances.
Anticipates problems and takes appropriate action.
Able to make recommendations concerning issues relating to performance improvement to enhance program operation and patient care.
Exhibits good judgment in use of down time and efficiently manages or prioritizes work to finish assignments.
Can be relied on to fulfill commitment or carry assignments without constant reminder or supervision.
Handles even difficult problems with no supervision.
Maintains liaison and referral system with community organizations, relations to nutrition educators, health, medical or social services.
Presents appropriate appearance and follows WHMC Code, i.e. wearing Identification while on duty at all times
Provides proper notification of absence and tardiness and performs job related duties in a safe manner.
Follow fire prevention policies, disaster protocols, infection control process.
Attends Annual WHMC Orientation.
Position Requirements:
This position requires a minimum formal education of Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 1 year job- related experience.
Desired (not required) criteria include: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics; CDN or RD eligible; 1 year experience in supervision or administrative duties.
License, CDN or RD.
One year experience in supervision or working as a competent professional authority in WIC.
