What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher Assistant - Middle School Summer Program position at Wydown Middle School?

The School District of Clayton is seeking Teaching Assistants for Middle School Summer Academy. The Teacher Assistant helps teachers facilitate learning in their classroom by providing support and assistance to individual students or small groups to help them better understand the content and help them complete assignments. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Assists and teaches cross-curricularly , works one-on-one with students, completes feedback on projects, and collaborates with teachers for student success.
  • Serves as substitute teacher, ensuring that standard classroom protocols are followed, assisting students with a range of tasks, and providing classroom teachers with student updates.
  • Supports and assists with student project management, assessments, special events, projects, and field trips.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – Required qualifications to effectively perform job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience is required.
  • Substitute teaching certification is required.

  • Requires ability to work with diverse ages and groups.
  • Requires knowledge of school curriculum.
  • Requires knowledge of Behavior Management skills.

  • Requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires ability to operate standard office and classroom equipment.

 

PHYSICAL ABILITIES – Activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Required to occasionally move objects weighing up to 25 pounds around the workspace.

WORK ENVIRONMENT – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • General office conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
  • Some outdoor exposure.

 

 

NOTE: Summer program dates range from June 3 through June 27.
