?? What You’ll Do
You’ll lead day-to-day accounting operations and play a critical role in shaping Wyman’s financial health and sustainability. Expect to:
- Take full ownership of our accounting systems, policies, and procedures—from daily transactions to big-picture process design.
- Manage the general ledger, including monthly and year-end close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Drive the preparation of financial reports and dashboards for leadership, board, funders, and programs.
- Lead grant and fund accounting in partnership with Donor Engagement and Program teams keeping an eye on compliance and clarity.
- Partner with teams across Wyman to make financials understandable, actionable, and connected to our mission.
- Prepare for and manage the annual audit and 990 process.
- Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting, helping translate dollars into strategy.
- Supervise the work of external vendors and potentially support staff as the department evolves.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.
- Bring fresh ideas, solve problems, and streamline systems—because progress matters.
?? What Makes You a Great Fit
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 years of accounting experience (nonprofit preferred but not required).
- You know your way around GAAP, grant reporting, and fund accounting.
- You’ve got hands-on experience with accounting systems, Excel, and maybe even budgeting or planning tools.
- You enjoy streamlining workflows and improving processes.
- You’re analytical, organized, and meticulous—but also adaptable, strategic, and collaborative.
- You’re comfortable translating “finance speak” into real talk for non-financial colleagues.
- You believe in transparency, equity, and the power of youth—and you’re ready to align your talents with your values.
