RN - Medical/Surgical PRN at Wythe County Community Hospital
As a Registered Nurse in a medical/surgical unit, we provide direct patient care using the nursing process, adhering to professional standards. This role demands critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to handle stress while delivering quality care across all age groups. We hold necessary certifications and are skilled in providing emergency support and efficient medical assistance in a timely manner.
Description:We provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Our nurses demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups, from pediatrics to geriatrics.
Reports to: Director of Medical/Surgical/ECU
Qualifications:Required Skills
We require critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Our team must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
We require the ability to be on-call and respond to the facility within 30 minutes of notification.
Required License/Certification
We require Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire,
ACLS and PALS certifications within one year of hire,
and current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of VA, or eligibility to sit for the NCLEX exam, or Compact licensure as a Registered Nurse, and in good standing with the Board.
Minimum Work Experience
We prefer one year of experience working on a medical/surgical care unit/telemetry unit, or orthopedic unit.
