Wytheville Community College is seeking a Nine-Month Engineering Teaching Faculty. The contract period is August 16th-May 15th the following year.
This position provides innovative instruction in Engineering for courses included in AS and AAS degrees at Wytheville Community College. This position requires the faculty member to build and offer courses in traditional, hybrid and distance learning formats. Faculty member is expected to meet assigned classes as scheduled, submit records and reports on time, teach assigned courses in college programs and as needed by the college, hold required office hours, participate on assigned college committees, and contribute positively to the learning environment and the campus community. The faculty member serves as an advisor to students in the transfer programs.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
1-2 years of teaching experience in a college or university setting;
Knowledge of pedagogical strategies and teaching methods for general education courses; Experience or a willingness to engage in advising and mentoring students;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, faculty, and staff; and Proficiency with educational technology and tools (e.g., learning management systems like Canvas or Blackboard, online teaching, multimedia integration, etc.).
