Job Description
The Purchasing and Logistics Administrator supports the Material Manager by executing the administrative tasks required to purchase goods and services, as well as coordinates and oversees shipping and receiving.
Responsibilities
- Participates in planning of inbound and outbound scheduling on a regular basis
- Constantly communicates with Material Manager to determine priorities
- Communicates with vendors regarding material availability, pricing, logistics, etc.
- Responsible for creating and submitting purchase orders to vendors, collecting order confirmations and ensuring documents match
- Coordinates inbound and outbound logistics by obtaining rate quotes from multiple carriers and scheduling pickups and deliveries as directed by management
- Communicates with carriers as well as shippers to ensure orders from vendors are received according to internal schedules
- Verifies inbound freight is received as agreed upon by matching receiving documents to purchase orders and order confirmations, notifying management of any discrepancies
- Visually inspects outbound freight to confirm customer’s orders are fulfilled accurately and shipped compliant with company policies and legal requirements
- Ensures timely delivery of goods to customers by tracking freight and communicating with carriers
- Assists in organizing and maintaining documentation related to shipping and receiving
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in logistics, supply chain management, business, or similar
- Minimum three (3) years of Purchasing or Logistics experience
- Great organizational, problem-solving, multitasking, and planning skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks experience
- Strong oral, written, and follow up communications skills
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with DOT, IATA, and IMDG requirements
- Base wage from $70,000 to $90,000 per year commensurate with experience.
