Job Summary:
A long standing client of ours are seeking a skilled and dedicated Petroleum Lab Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) applications and the physical capability to handle the demands of a fast-paced laboratory environment. This role requires flexibility, as it involves working unusual hours, including weekends and holidays, to support ongoing lab operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct tests on petroleum products (e.g., crude oil, gasoline, diesel) and related samples following standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Record, track, and analyze test data using LIMS applications to ensure accurate results.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of laboratory procedures, results, and maintenance activities.
- Assist in preparing samples and maintaining lab equipment and tools.
- Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure the laboratory area is clean, organized, and in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment or test-related issues as needed.
- Participate in quality assurance activities to maintain high standards for testing accuracy and reliability.
- Be available for weekend shifts, on-call hours, and emergency holidays as required to support lab operations.
Qualifications:
- Experience using LIMS applications for data management and analysis.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds, including handling heavy containers or equipment.
- Flexibility to work unusual hours, including weekends, holidays, and emergency shifts as necessary.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills to effectively document and report test results.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's degree or certification in laboratory technology or a related field is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Prolonged standing or sitting during laboratory testing.
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Working Conditions:
The lab environment may be noisy and require the use of specialized safety equipment.
Unusual working hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, are essential to the role.
