Substation Operator Job Description
We are seeking a Substation Operator to join our team in Granbury, TX. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and repairing electrical systems for cutting-edge operations, with a focus on high-voltage equipment and substation functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair high-voltage electrical systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and protective relays.
- Conduct diagnostics, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
- Ensure compliance with local and national electrical codes and high-voltage safety regulations.
- Perform inspections of electrical systems, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs and records for compliance and audits.
- Collaborate with teams to share knowledge and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Be prepared to travel to remote locations as needed.
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician or equivalent in electrical engineering and substation operations.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license is required.
- Hands-on experience with high-voltage systems, including transformers, power distribution units, and circuit breakers.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, including 3-phase wiring and medium/high-voltage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Physical fitness, with the ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, lifting, climbing, and working outdoors.
- Knowledge of Bitcoin mining or data center operations is a plus.
