Job Summary:
The Assistant Chief Engineer Laundry Maintenance is a full-time, year-round position and is based out of Gardiner, Montana. This position is responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in the management of staff and completion of maintenance and repairs to the laundry plant assets and all installed equipment in a timely, professional, efficient and safe manner. Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
- Assist the Laundry Plant Chief Engineer in ensuring maintenance labor and materials are accurately recorded in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo).
- Provide the administrative, physical, and technical skills necessary for year-round troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and operation of Xanterra’s facilities, equipment, and assets.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, management, scheduling, support, and leadership of laundry maintenance staff consisting of both year-round and seasonal employees.
- Coordinate and provide proactive, timely and accurate information to laundry maintenance staff, laundry Operations managers, Engineering staff, outside contractors, other concessioners, and the National Park Service.
- Comply with and enforce company policies and procedures and the Gardiner Laundry Management Plan.
- Responsible for the continuous development, enhancement, and implementation of cyclic, predictive, and preventive maintenance procedures for related responsibilities.
- Ensure maintenance and facility operations are accomplished by staff and contractors in a safe, environmentally responsible, efficient, and effective manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Use the appropriate tools and materials needed for the completion of work orders in a safe and efficient manner.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, healthy, respectful, and cooperative work environment.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with a polite demeanor and professional appearance.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently with limited supervision, and willing to occasionally work overtime and/or nights.
Qualifications
- Must have advanced knowledge of, and experience in facility maintenance and operation. Management experience in commercial laundry maintenance and operation is desired but not necessarily required.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills demonstrated by previous employment and education.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical to this position.
- Must have the ability to lead maintenance staff toward a common purpose, establish and achieve meaningful goals and objectives.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to regroup and “manage on the fly” as unplanned requirements and situations present themselves.
- Must be a self-starter, able to troubleshoot problems, ask the right questions and have the confidence to make hard decisions based on the best information available.
- Must possess knowledge of OSHA General Industry (1910) and Construction (1926) standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Must possess a strong working knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as the confidence, willingness, and ability to become proficient in the CMMS, timekeeping (KRONOS) and other mission-critical computer-based systems.
Physical Requirements include:
- May require the use of respiratory protection and compliance with the applicable respiratory protection program regulations, including restrictions on the length and location of facial hair.
- May require work in confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces.
- Able to walk up to a half mile over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, stand, bend, kneel and crawl in all types of weather conditions at elevations exceeding 6,000 ft.
- Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Possess physical stamina to perform heavy labor in an commercial environment.
- Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years.
