We’re hiring a Cafe Manager to Live. Work. Explore. Zion National Park!
Job Summary:
The Cafe Manager oversees the daily operations of Zion Lodge's high volume and fast paced Castle Dome Cafe. Provide excellent guest services, train new employees, manage employee relations, oversee inventory orders, maintain sanitation efforts, and help out where needed in the cafe.
The Details:
Season Dates: ASAP - 12/4/2024
Pay: $19.95/hr
Housing/Meals: Complimentary - Single Status Housing
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
- To ensure that the facility is ready to open fifteen minutes prior to posted opening time, i.e. staff present, cash registers stocked and operational, all menu items are available and ready, dining and service areas are set-up and ready.
- To commit food specification to memory and to follow-up and ensure that staff members learn and adhere to those specifications.
- To develop team work among the staff and ensure a positive work environment by building employee morale through motivation efforts.
- To ensure that guests are greeted immediately and that all food and service issues are handled quickly and courteously.
- To direct the staff toward the goal of maximizing guest services.
- To maintain clean and sanitary service and dining areas through example and staff direction.
- To direct and assist as necessary to ensure a smooth work flow and excellent guest services.
- To develop an open two-way line of communication between the staff and other managers.
- To develop department work schedule and make shift changes for employees, as needed.
- To train and ensure staff is adhering to proper food preparation procedures.
- Seeing that all closing duties are completed.
- Process employee payroll and ensure that time cards are accurate.
- Ability to adapt to working with a population of employees in flux - seasonal workers and international students.
- To promote menu knowledge and suggestive selling efforts.
- To check each staff member out at the end of their shift.
- To develop a professional code of conduct within the cafe/kitchen.
- To train, re-train, and develop employee skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant supervisory and/or management experience preferred.
- A valid drivers license is required.
- Ability to successfully work in a high volume and fast paced restaurant.
- Ability to cross train in each station of the Cafe - including the grill, food prep, cooking, making coffees, managing the register, and providing excellent customer service.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, approximately 8 hours.
- Must be able to walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, stretch and reach for extended periods of time.
