Xavier University’s College of Arts and Sciences is seeking applications for the position of Pre-Health Professions Advisor. The Advisor will take on a leadership role in the determination of support services to pre-professional health students at Xavier. Along with the Chair of the Health Sciences Committee, the Advisor also facilitates all aspects of a student’s progress in preparing for a career in one of the health professions. The Advisor serves as the primary contact person with professional health schools and initiates and administers programs and events with these schools. This role reports to the Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Includes But Not Limited To
- Advise students in all aspects of their applications and preparation for admissions tests to professional health schools, including developing information sessions, leading workshops, providing resources, and increasing advising consultation during the application cycle.
- Develop and direct activities and programs for Xavier pre-professional health students that focus on developing better understanding of health and career-related issues. Provide regular in-person and remote events to ensure information is accessible to students at every stage.
- Serve as the primary Staff/Faculty Advisor to the Pre-Medical Society, Pre-Dental Society, and Alpha Epsilon Delta, and provide administrative staff support for their programming.
- Direct and manage the multiple responsibilities of the Health Sciences Committee in coordination with the Chair, while also participating as a member of this Committee.
- Administer and manage all record-keeping and tracking of student applications, recommendations, and academic records in support of the professional school application process.
- Master’s degree required in Counseling, Communications, or Science areas. A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in student affairs or academic careers advising in higher education at a regionally accredited institution may substitute for a Master's degree.
- Strong interpersonal skills in dealing sensitively with a wide variety of constituents, including students, parents, faculty, and professional school representatives.
- Ability to work independently, creatively, and collaboratively in an organized manner.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
