Purpose:
- Position is the Corporate Workplace and Health Safety office reporting to Xerox’s Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability leadership.
- This corporate role establishes safety policies and provides technical safety oversight to Xerox’s manufacturing, research and service operations. Position collaborates with other professional Safety and Health colleagues within the organization and serves as the Workplace Safety and Health interface with operations safety professionals and the management teams.
- Primary Responsibilities:
- Collects, manages, and reports injury performance data for the entire corporation
- Oversees the company’s emergency preparedness programs
- Conducts life safety reviews of US Real Estate transactions
- Assesses workplace exposures to chemical and physical agents and indoor air quality
- Conducts review of hazardous chemicals to be used in the workplace
- Manages the Xerox fire protection program which includes interfacing with Xerox Risk Management teams, Property Insurer and Xerox’s risk management consulting partner
- Participates on corporate audits of Xerox operation’s Health and Safety compliance and injury prevention programs
- Conducts Safety and Health inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and prevailing professional standards and practices
- Develops and implements Safety and Health policies and programs
- Develops and provides Safety and Health training to personnel including managers and supervisors
- Analyzes and Investigates Health and Safety incidents to ensure that action is taken to correct deficiencies or violations of established standards
- Investigates employee complaints and suggestions regarding hazardous conditions and chemical handling
- Evaluates new and existing jobs, new projects, chemicals, and processes to determine existence and severity of hazards and recommend controls
- Provides technical guidance on a large variety of workplace Safety and Health issues
Required Skills:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Safety Engineering, Health Sciences or Industrial Hygiene or equivalent.
- Master of Science (MS) degree in related field preferred.
- Certified or in pursuit of certification in Safety or Industrial Hygiene (CSP, or CIH)
- Understanding of applicable regulatory standards and industry best practices
- 5 years experience in related field
- Ability to interact effectively with all areas of the business and external organizations
- Ability to apply the rules of risk assessment and develop mitigation plans
- Good understanding of strategic priorities
- Self-starter and strong work ethic
