Nesting Technician
The CAD Drafter – Nesting Specialist will be responsible for laser table nesting and implementation of Radan software. This role is vital to ensuring efficient material utilization and prevision in the production of commercial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer-aided-design (CAD), understanding of laser cutting processes, and sheet metal fabrication. Additionally, this person will have a solid understanding of software implementation and process optimization.
Job Duties:
- Nesting for Laser Table Production
- Create and optimize part nesting programs for laser cutting to maximize material usage and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure nests meet manufacturing schedules and requirements.
- Troubleshoot and adjust nesting layouts as needed to address material constraints and production challenges.
- Radan Software Implementation
- Lead the setup, configuration, and implementation of Radan CAD/CAM software for the laser cutting process.
- Develop and document workflows and best practices for Radan usage.
- Train team members on Radan software and ensure adherence to company standards.
- CAD Drafting and Design
- Prepare and revise detailed CAD drawings and models for sheet metal components in accordance with HVAC system designs.
- Ensure all designs align with project specifications and industry standards.
- Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency through better nesting strategies, software utilization, and workflow enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of all CAD files, nesting layouts, and software configurations.
- Provide regular updates to management on software implementation progress and nesting efficiency metrics.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the team's objectives and adapt to evolving organizational priorities.
Requirements
- Education: Associate degree or certification in CAD drafting, engineering technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in CAD drafting within a manufacturing environment .
- Proficiency with nesting software (Radan experience strongly preferred).
- Hands-on experience with laser cutting machines and sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Strong understanding of material utilization and nesting optimization.
- Familiarity with HVAC system components and manufacturing standards is a plus .
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
