As an Underwriting Assistant you will be a team player performing a variety of tasks directly supporting the underwriters including information gathering for new business, pre-underwriting certain straightforward risks, renewals and midterm changes, policy issuance and electronic file maintenance. You will perform service of new, renewal and mid-term changes in an accurate and timely manner, must understand and effectively utilize corporate computer systems, and provide quality service to both internal and external customers.
You will collaborate with underwriting, claims and operations staff as needed to perform tasks and work effectively as a team, contributing to the creation and sustaining of a high-performance team by embracing and understanding team and unit goals, performing at a meet expectation or above level, and contributing to and implementing actions to improve performance and efficiency.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Collect account and insured information for risk analysis by communicating directly with brokers on behalf of the underwriters.
- Perform tasks to directly support the underwriting staff during such stages of the process as pre-quote, bind and post-bind type tasks for new business, renewals and midterm changes.
- Liaise with underwriters and brokers as needed to communicate account status and complete outstanding subjectivities.
- Liaise with underwriters to confirm binder and policy issuance instructions for policies and midterm change requests.
- Create and deliver policies in an accurate and timely manner.
- Process post bind transactions as requested in AXA XL policy systems based on instruction from underwriting staff.
- Act as back up if needed for Intake of submissions, including performing broker/account clearance, data entry of information into AXA XL policy systems, electronic file set up and accurate filing of account information on submissions received from external customers in a timely manner and in accordance with guidelines.
- Generate and deliver renewal solicitation and non-renewal letters based on instruction from UW.
- Accountable for accuracy and quality of work/data entry completed.
- Manage and prioritize workloads to meet due dates.
In this role you will report to the Manager, Underwriting Operations - Hartford Professional.

The U.S. pay range for this position is USD 59,000 – 79,900. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
