Development Officer – XO Marriage

XO Marriage is a non-profit organization headquartered in Southlake, TX. Through XO Marriage Conferences, podcasts, online content, and marriage-enriching resources, our mission is to see the marriage rate increase, the divorce rate drop, and a generation of children set up for success.

Summary of Position

The Development Officer duties and responsibilities are to work closely with the Development Director to increase the number of donors for XO Marriage and Tipping Point, continue to improve the relationship between the organization and the donors, and support leadership in the team’s overall fundraising goals. The Development Officer serves as a key team member of the fundraising/donor relations team for XO Marriage and carries the responsibility of achieving income goals. Reporting to the Development Officer, this position will help implement strategy of all fundraising campaigns for XO Marriage, including individual giving, major gifts, and faith-based community support. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with key donors, developing relationships with new donors and actively engaging with potential donors.

Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)

  • Work with the Development team to assist with creating and coordinating all fundraising appeals, including, but not limited to, all quarterly campaigns, North Texas Giving Day, GivingTuesday, End of the Year Giving, Tipping Point subscribers, as well as exclusive donor events
  • Assist in executing annual development goals & strategies including larger gifts, corporate partnerships, donor retention, cultivating deeper relationships with current donors, donor events, donor engagement and fundraising
  • Assist in creation and execution for all developments events, as well as XO Marriage and Tipping Point events, including logistics and day of on-site events team coordination
  • Establish relationships and communication with key donors, which include XO Marriage high donors ($1,000-$4,999K) and Tipping Point donors ($1,000K-$4,999K) through email, phone calls, text messages and social media
  • Create and maintain professional and positive communications with donors, keeping them informed of all XO Marriage and Tipping Point happenings, events, campaigns and opportunities to get involved in our mission
  • Conduct research on donor prospects and other acquisition strategies to expand donor base locally, regionally and nationally
  • Work with Development Director to coordinate and implement all donor mailings, including direct mail appeals and e-appeals
  • Use prospecting CRM tools (Virtuous) to build donor relationships and track donor journeys
  • Maintain consistent communications with donors through a variety of ways, including acknowledgement letters, thank you cards, donor appreciation gifts, and other communications via phone and email
  • Adhere to best practices and campaign timelines and drive accountability by the team
  • Support the Development leadership team in all individual donor fundraising activities
  • Travel requirements: 30-40%

General Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce and Virtuous (CRM software)
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, ability to work independently and be able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Ensure accuracy and maintain the strictest confidentiality in all work, especially when handling sensitive information
  • Be creative, resourceful, detail-oriented and flexible, possessing a positive attitude, professional demeanor and good judgment
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships and work well as a team member with staff, community partners and ministry partners
  • Previous development/fundraising experience preferred, but not required

  • Sit/stand for long periods of time
  • Occasionally kneel, or crouch
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
