Job Summary:
The bilingual in English and Spanish Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This role involves overseeing recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Manage onboarding and orientation processes for new employees.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations and HR inquiries.
- Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and FMLA and Personal leave requests.
- Maintain employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details.
- Plan and support company-wide information meetings such as open enrollment, new hire orientation, and meetings to announce or discuss changes in retirement or benefits plans.
- Conduct or assist with record audits and mandatory reports, which may include I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews.
- Support HR projects and initiatives.
- Support payroll processes and administer in the absence of Payroll and Compliance Supervisor.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Maintain HR databases and generate reports as needed.
- Perform other office duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in HR or related roles.
- Knowledge of HR software and systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Monday).
- HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) are often preferred but not required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be fluent in English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of US labor laws and regulations including California and Illinois.
- Knowledge of Canada legislation including but not limited to Quebec.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
