Overview

Xplicit Technologies, LLC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Library Director to lead the operations and strategic direction of the Warren County Public Library. This leadership position will oversee the administration, staffing, programming, and community engagement of a thriving single-branch library system serving residents of Warren County, Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the chief administrator of the Library, ensuring high-quality public library service aligned with the goals of the Warren County Library Board and Board of Supervisors.
• Direct the daily operations, including staff supervision, budgeting, facility coordination, and community programs.
• Oversee development and implementation of library policies and strategic plans in collaboration with the Library Board.
• Ensure the library is operated in full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including Virginia Code 17VAC15, the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and ADA guidelines.
• Manage collection development, interlibrary loans, circulation, and digital resources in accordance with community needs and professional best practices.
• Engage in public outreach, community partnerships, marketing, and the promotion of literacy, technology, and lifelong learning initiatives.
• Oversee the implementation and optimization of the Integrated Library System (ILS) and public access technologies.
• Prepare operational and capital budgets and support grant writing and other external funding initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution or a related advanced degree in public administration or a comparable field.
• A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience in a public library system of comparable size and scope.
• Proven expertise in public library administration, policy development, personnel management, and budget oversight.
• Demonstrated success in supervising diverse teams, implementing community programs, and managing library technology systems.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of library ethics, standards, and practices including cataloging, weeding, and digital collection strategies.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and community inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in or managing a public library in a municipal or county government context.
• Familiarity with Virginia state library standards and public procurement regulations.
