The Labor Relations Manager works closely with the Chief Legal Officer and other Senior Operations leadership to create harmonious, effective working relationships between the organization, its partner trade unions, and our employees. This opportunity can be remote.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct reports.
Essential Functions:
- Provides labor relations consultations to employees, supervisors, management, and union leadership
- Supports organizational leadership as a member of the bargaining team in collective bargaining agreements
- Consults with company leadership to interpret and implement various labor contract provisions
- Represents the organization as a member of the negotiating team in all grievance hearings, mediation, and arbitrations as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement
- Develops positions, proposals, and strategies in collective bargaining activities
- Reviews and communicates counter-proposals to Senior Operations leadership
- Provides updates and analysis of collective bargaining agreement negotiations
- Maintains regular communication with company leadership and union principals to ensure cooperative working relationships
- Maintains close lines of communication with the Chief Legal Officer seeking consultation on all matters of importance
Competencies:
- Knowledge of labor law, including the processes and procedures of the NLRB and the NLRA
- Ability to foster and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders
- Ability to interpret, explain, and apply collective bargaining contract language administrative rules, processes, procedures, and all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to labor unions and employee relations
- Ability to conduct fact-finding interviews and internal investigations, obtaining relevant factual information, evaluating its significance, and recommending appropriate courses of action
- Skilled at preparing reports and recommendations
- Skilled at mentoring leaders in developing effective labor relations skills and techniques
- Skill at using computers and other office technology
- Skill in being timely and dependable
- Skill in completing or organizing documentation
- Skill in data entry with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone
- Ability to listen and communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high energy level
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to demonstrate emotional control in stressful situations
Work Environment:
- Generally, works in an office environment and visits work sites as needed.
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 25% of work time.
Required education and experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
- Four years experience in labor relations
Preferred education and experience:
- Associate degree in business or related field
- Experience with IBEW national and/or locals

- Must meet I-9 requirements.
