Kaizen Team Leader

Description

Summary/ Objective:

Assist Manager in coordinating activities of department and lead the Kaizen fabrication shop.

Essential Functions (but Are Not Limited To)

• Ensures safety of self and others by following all Safety Policies/Procedures and wearing all required PPE.
• Communicate Manger’s directions to Team Members.
• Assist in coordinating activities of the team to ensure production schedules are met while emphasizing Safety and Quality.
• Analyze work problems and recommend solutions to Manager.
• Assist Team Members in resolving problems/concerns that affect their performance (i.e., direct to Group Leader, Human Resources etc.).
• Train Team Members in departmental functions.
• Maintain production records and other documentation, as needed.
• Perform activities of Team Members as needed.
• Maintain and complete necessary reporting.
• Operates a cutting torch, welding equipment, drill press, saw and various hand tools such as saws, drills, plasma cutters, grinders, etc., and able to be certified to operate a forklift and genie boom.
• Container, dolly, parts rack, carts repair using welder, saw, drill press etc.
• Fabrication from scratch of parts racks, parts carts, part stands, etc.
• Welding parts racks, containers, parts carts, etc.
• Fabrication of any other requested production supporting item.
• Miscellaneous duties to help various department implement Kaizens.
• Daily 5S of the Kaizen shop.
• Regular attendance is required.

Must be flexible to work in all areas and in your department regardless of duties listed above in order to accomplish YKTA Goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• One or more years of hands-on welding and general fabrication experience
• Knowledge of material and fabrication processes and tooling and fabrication equipment capabilities.
• Personal computer and software skills.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of production experience
• Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
  
  

Environment

• Work is conducted in an industrial office/ plant setting.
• Frequent movement throughout an industrial plant environment being exposed to high noise levels and equipment normally used in stamping / welding/ Ecoat environments.
  
  

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of standing on the plant floor.
• Repetitive reaching, pulling, bending, lifting overhead is possible.
• Must be able to lift up to 33 pounds at times.
