What You'll Do
The Director for Production Science and Technology Maturation (PS&TM) is responsible for providing program leadership and the internal and external coordination and advocacy necessary to sustain and advance the tools, technologies, and skills needed to assess the state of the stockpile and ensure we develop the agility and responsiveness needed to support future production mission needs.
The PS&TM Director is responsible for ensuring strategies, policies, and plans are developed, integrated, budgeted, and executed to accomplish the NA-11 related work portfolio to ensure the Y-12 Plant can efficiently and effectively:
- Support the current stockpile by providing accurate and timely stockpile assessment data
- Support design studies and development programs by rapidly supplying test/development hardware and material processing services to the DAs
- Anticipate future needs through collaborations with the DAs, and NNSA and DoD customers
- Collaborate with Design Agency, Other Production Agency, Industry, and University partners to mature and qualify promising technologies that are relevant to emerging needs or that contribute to a more efficient, responsive enterprise, and ensure their successful hand-off to receiving programs for scale-up, qualification, and production
- Deliver the underlying science, technology, and workforce needed to support design and production agility, responsiveness, robustness, and resilience by integrating internal efforts and teaming with Design Agencies and University partners to apply science-based stockpile stewardship tools to production processes
The Director is responsible for staffing, coordinating, facilitating, overseeing, and reporting on the activities of PS&TM Program personnel, effectively interfacing with internal and external customers, representing CNS in meetings and negotiations, and working with NA-11, -12, -19, and -90 to ensure effective technology transitions to receiving programs and facilities.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience. Minimum 5 years of management experience
- Experience interfacing with NNSA Headquarters, Federal Program Managers, and peers across NSE M&Os
- Must be familiar with production research, development, and DA/PA integration and collaboration initiatives and associated management personnel
Preferred Job Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science in a technical discipline and 12 years relevant work experience in research and development, program management, and planning and integration
- Experience and knowledge of Y-12 programs and manufacturing capabilities
- Master's degree in a science or engineering field with 12 or more years of relevant work experience and established working relationships with NNSA HQ, NSE M&Os, and DoD partners
- Minimum 10 years of relevant supervisory/management experience
- Thorough knowledge of Defense Programs Business Practices and program management structures, NNSA and CNS processes, policies and procedures; knowledge of functional organization interactions, processes and systems; and knowledge of financial/budgeting processes and systems (SAP)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and provide strategic-level program direction and guidance, portfolio-level oversight and control for planning and monitoring the accomplishment of work across all included program elements
- Ability to logically and systematically evaluate program and process problems to determine appropriate solutions; and to direct, coordinate, and facilitate the activities of technical and administrative program personnel
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with internal functional organizations and external customers. This includes representing the PS&TM organization in meetings and negotiations. Demonstrated skill presenting technical information clearly and effectively through oral and written communications; and ability to perform duties with initiative, independent judgment and discretion
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects or programs for NNSA and/or other government-related organizations, and knowledge and/or experience in establishing program baselines and managing changes to those baselines
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact, present and communicate with CNS Senior Management and NNSA customers on a regular basis. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with a team and prioritize and manage competing priorities
- Requires the ability to develop and integrate technology strategies across multiple domains to create a compelling future vision and supporting roadmaps and implementation plans
- Requires strong verbal and communication skills to develop strategic communications and advocacy approaches
