What are the responsibilities and job description for the Greenhouse Irrigation Technician position at Yakima Chief Ranches?
The Greenhouse Irrigation Technician (GIT) at Yakima Chief Ranches (YCR) will report to the Greenhouse Manager and Section Grower to assist in all aspects of greenhouse irrigation.
- Scouting and visually observing the moisture level of all plants in the zones assigned to them.
- Water plants when necessary to insure crop quality
- Look for plants for pests, diseases, and assess the overall health of plants.
- Assist with routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Assist with the maintenance and gardening of Zillah's facilities.
This list is not meant to be all-inclusive. The GIT must be adaptive and occasionally be required to perform a wide range of tasks outside the scope of this description.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Training:
- Valid Washington State Driver's License.
- Must be able to perform essential position tasks.
- Ability to work a set schedule.
- Experience in greenhouse or agricultural work, especially hops preferred.
- Knowledge of plant care, growth phases and management.
- Ability to use a tablet or handheld.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to traverse work sites and work in all weather conditions.
- Standing for long period of time
- You should be able to lift 50 lbs.at times.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bilingual: English and Spanish
- Understanding of food safety and traceability requirements
- Ability to drive a forklift
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain the pace of productivity set throughout the shift
Schedule:
40 hours per week, and limited weekends during the month of September.
Position requires an executed confidentiality agreement.
