This position is responsible for monitoring Level III offender's progress during the final phases of their supervision, tracking compliance of offenders who have entered into a court sanctioned agreement, and managing and evaluating the defensive driving, cost recovery and life skills programs. Additionally, the Case Manager conducts initial self- assessments to determine the needs and risks of each client, reviews criminal histories, and records pertinent information in the case management system to aid the Probation counselor in case planning and compliance monitoring. The Case Manager also assigns a Probation Counselor. The Case Manager is responsible for assigning a Probation Counselor to each client based on workload and expertise, reviewing court-ordered conditions to ensure client understanding, directing clients to treatment resources, and serves as an instructor for departmental classes while fulfilling additional responsibilities as needed.Benefits included in position : -Health Care Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life and Basic LTD)-Retirement Benefits-Paid Vacation-Paid Holidays-Paid Sick LeaveNote : This is a Non-Bargaining Unit Position.This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies that occur within 90 days of the closing of this position. (This excludes Yakima County Sheriff's Office and Department of Corrections)Responsibilities : Essential Duties : Case Manager is tasked with conducting initial self-assessments to determine the needs and risks of each client. This includes reviewing the criminal history and recording pertinent information in the case management system to aid the Probation Counselor in case planning and monitoring compliance. Additionally, the Case Manager assigns a Probation Counselor to each client, considering their workload, expertise, and unique requirements of the client. Responsible for reviewing court-ordered conditions with the client to ensure that they understand all their requirements as well as direct them to resources needed to begin their treatment. Responsible for presenting, instructing and / or facilitating defensive and cost recovery courses offered by Probation Services. Conducts interactive and informative classes that promote participation, discussion, and skill-building among clients. Engage in training and professional development to remain up to date with best practices in probation and rehabilitation.Responsible for the continuance maintenance and updates of the Probation Department's website, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date, while also managing a comprehensive list of community resources available to clients. Manage a small caseload of low-risk clients, providing guidance and support throughout their probation period. Also responsible for preparing early termination petitions and memos for review as well as entering notes in the court's case management system regarding compliance on deferred prosecutions.Conducts random urinalysis as authorized by court order. Maintain a comprehensive list of community resources to assist the client in achieving successful compliance with court ordered conditions. Maintains cooperative relationships with all agencies and personnel who are involved with the client.Other duties required. Education and Experience : Associate degree or two year technical certificate in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field AND three (3) years of specialized clerical / administrative or technical training beyond high school; OR any combination of experience or training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Required : Valid WA State Driver's License and proof of insurance, if requested.Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background investigation and general employment verification.Bloodborne pathogen training upon employment.Two day Ohio Risk Assessment System (ORAS) certification upon employment.Preferred : Bilingual in SpanishCommunication and interpersonal abilitiesUnderstanding of laws, regulation, and ethical standards related to probation and community supervision.Experience maintaining and updating websitesEquipment Used : Computer, laptop and work stations, Printers / Scanner, Copiers, Multi-line telephone, Document / Case Management System, Shredders, Office Furniture, Administrative Supplies, and Passenger Vehicle.Working Conditions : This position is rated as Sedentary Work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.Environment : Pathogen exposure, travel, multiple work locations, and work in locked down facility(s). Duties are performed primarily in an office setting; however, the Intake Case Manager may be required to visit correctional facilities to conduct assessments for incarcerated individuals. Exposure to hazardous physical conditions and exposure to potentially violent or hostile individuals is possible.
