What You’ll Do:
Inform and educate clients on WIC program, policies, procedures, and benefits.
Complete assessments to determine eligibility based on income, nutrition needs, and client category. Certify per guidelines.
Perform hemoglobin testing and anthropometric measures. Interpret results to evaluate health and risk status.
Assess client nutrition needs and refer high-risk clients to Dietitian. Make social service referrals as needed.
Provide participant-centered nutrition counseling, set health goals, and educate on breastfeeding techniques.
Issue appropriate WIC food packages per guidelines.
Complete and update client charts, document nutrition assessments, health history, diet assessments, care plans, and education provided.
Manage clinic flow, answer calls, and schedule appointments.
Stay informed about community demographics and resources. Perform outreach activities.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
One year of customer service experience is required. An associate's degree may replace experience.
Experience in reception, nutrition education, working with children/infants, or being a previous WIC certifier or educator is a plus!
Medical Assistant – Registered required within one year of employment.
WIC Certification is required once the training period is completed
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required at level 9
Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills
Ability to prioritize work and handle various tasks simultaneously, with frequent interruptions
Ability to effectively and professionally interact with women, caregivers, infants, children, and staff
General knowledge in culturally appropriate practice
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records.
Knowledge about basic nutrition concepts desired
