What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Admin Technician position at Yakutat Tlingit Tribe?
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Assist the Environmental Director with computer organization and reports as assigned, may assist with baseline water quality data collection, Salt water testing, eDNA and other sample parameters as agreed. Field work schedule revolves around ocean tides as well as river and weather conditions. This work may not always occur during typical business hours. Technician may travel in the field by small aircraft, boats, ATV, field walking and moderately difficult hiking.
Primary duties will be clerical.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Will be trained to assist with office Computer organization, reports, newsletters as well as pre-field and post-field organizing for sampling events, including but not limited to:
- Assist with coordinating field work schedule and transportation logistics
- Attend relevant trainings
- Ensuring samples are sent out in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned which may include but not limited to: shellfish sampling; Harmful Algal Bloom (HABs) monitoring, ocean acidification, fish consumption assessment survey; other tasks associated with any other existing department projects or new projects
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE (preferred)
- Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and oral communicator
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong record-keeping abilities
- Highly organized
- Experienced with Microsoft 365
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certificates in the Microsoft programs or experience working with the computer programs, strongly desired.
- 18 years of age or older, Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to work flexible hours at times for scheduled field work that may be dependent on tides, weather and river conditions.
- Ability to carry 25 lbs. for extended periods of time.
