A Nuclear Medicine Technologist specializes in performing imaging procedures, including CAT scans, to produce diagnostic images for patients. The role involves calibrating equipment, obtaining clinical information, scheduling patient exams, and maintaining records while ensuring quality care.
Job Responsibilities:- Perform warm up calibration procedures to ready scanners for patient imaging.
- Set up and operate CAT Scan equipment to ensure accuracy and picture quality.
- Select and operate equipment as directed for patient exam.
- Obtain pertinent clinical information from patients and charts, explain procedure and encourage cooperation through quality patient care.
- Consult with radiologist in charge for required exam and set up prior to patient imaging.
- Schedule and coordinate all patient scheduling, preparation and arrange for patient transport.
- Keep work area clean and well stocked and maintain equipment.
- Maintain pertinent section logs and perform clerical duties as needed.
- Administer I.V. contrast.
- Demonstrate basic leadership skills and professional growth.
- Plan and/or implement care for assigned patients.
- Type all applicable information into the computer system.
- Contribute to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years experience as R.T. (R) Proven Cat Scan experience preferred.
- Registered R.T. (R) Licensed in the State of Connecticut.
