Position Focus :
The Jackson School of Global Affairs, the first professional school established at Yale since 1976, is dedicated to promoting education and scholarship on global affairs. A vibrant community of students, scholars, practitioners and staff, the school is home to a number of interdisciplinary academic programs in global affairs. A vital member of the Jackson School leadership team, the Assistant Dean of Admissions is responsible for the strategic vision, direction, management and execution of the admissions process for all of Jackson’s academic programs including the School’s flagship program in Global Affairs. The Assistant Dean of Admissions formulates the School’s recruitment strategy, ensuring a highly qualified and exceptional student body that aligns with the School’s academic and enrollment goals.
This position requires a dynamic leader who can innovate and drive results in a highly competitive admissions landscape.
Essential Duties
1. Strategize, formulate and execute a comprehensive recruitment strategy for all Jackson School academic programs, including serving as the primary recruiter for the MPP in Global Affairs. Design, manage, and directly implement innovative short-term and long-term strategies to recruit the best students worldwide into Jackson’s academic programs and meet the school’s enrollment and growth Monitor and analyze national and international trends in higher education admissions and the student market, with a particular focus on global / international affairs programs, to keep the school competitive and responsive to changes. Regularly analyze Jackson and other relevant recruitment and enrollment data to formulate data-driven projections and decisions. 3. Cultivate new and existing external relationships to help generate interest from prospective applicants. Market Jackson School degree programs domestically and internationally. Travel to fairs and events in the US and abroad to recruit students and publicize Jackson School With the support of the school’s communications office, create a robust communications strategy utilizing various types of media, including websites, social media channels, and professional publications. Develop publicity materials and oversee all admissions-related print and online materials and Provide guidance and counseling to prospective students. Engage in significant contact with prospective students throughout the application and admissions process. Advise prospective students about admissions requirements, options, policies, procedures, and associated Develop and manage programs and events associated with admissions and recruitment efforts. Organize and implement the Jackson School campus visit program, including programs for admitted students. 7. Oversee the admissions selection process within Jackson. Manage all aspects of application review by the admissions committee, organize committee meetings, and manage notification of decisions. Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and systems to ensure maximum selection process efficiency and effectiveness. Leads the School’s admissions committee. 8. Manage the Jackson School graduate student financial aid budget, which amounts to over $5 million USD. Ensure efficient and optimal use of funds to maximize Manage and oversee the daily operations of the admissions office. Supervise, mentor, and oversee the office of admissions staff with an eye toward their professional development and growth. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment, ensuring staff meets the school's needs and Represent the Jackson School with relevant external organizations and professional associations, such as APSIA, serving as liaison with the admissions group. Serve as primary liaison to university departments on topics related to admissions. 11. Perform special projects as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and seven years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills :
Master's or other advanced degree in a field consistent with career path of global affairs students; successful track record in student recruiting. Demonstrated experience with Slate CRM.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel regularly out of state, including overnight stays, for recruitment activities ( and international). Heavy travel particularly during the Fall semester. Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
