Position Focus :
The Data Services Project Manager, reporting to the Director of Clinical Data Services plays a pivotal role in delivering data for research projects and data services.
This position will :
- Analyze data request project requirements, develop project specifications, reviews alternatives and recommend methods and solutions for delivering results.
- Develop and manage projects delivering the data to researchers and work closely with analysts and end users to deliver the results.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of workflows and processes within the department and develop supporting procedures.
- This role involves close collaboration with developers, analysts and end user stakeholders to manage and deliver a range of data solutions to support research initiatives.
- Supports and manages projects to deliver data and data delivery solutions to support research projects.
- Analyzes data services project requests to identify deliverables, defines scope and project specifications and determines the appropriate solutions and delivery mechanisms.
- Develops project plans for completing data services products and solutions.
- Works closely with analysts and end users to manage and deliver project results.
- Reviews internal workflows and procedures and recommends and implements improvements.
Essential Duties
1. Develops the initial project charter and clarify the project scope, requirements, measurable outcomes, and project benefits in collaboration with process owners. 2. Documents the “as is” and “to be” business processes using standard process modeling tools and process improvement methodologies. 3. Decomposes high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements. Manages the development of functional specifications by collaborating with process owners; gathering business requirements; creating functional specifications; and identifying, documenting, and resolving design issues 4. Represents requirements using alternative views, such as analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios. Provides compelling and concise analysis to enable business owners to make well informed decisions regarding options for problem resolution and opportunity realization. 5. Leads requirements analysis and verification, ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable, and that they conform to standards. 6. Contributes in testing and quality assurance process. Collaborates with developers and end-users to insure that application functionality meets client needs. Tests solutions, problem-solve issues, and coordinate enhancements. 7. Responsible for requirements prioritization and solution risk analysis. 8. Plans and communicates the departmental readiness plan. Supports metrics integration and execution for optimal results. 9. Develops and delivers training to end users. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and five years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill / Ability 1 :
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to review customer requirements, analyze related data develop and recommend solutions.
Required Skill / Ability 2 :
Excellent communication skills and experience engaging with stakeholders. Must communicate effectively with staff of all levels.
Required Skill / Ability 3 :
Experience developing processes and procedures to support operations.
Required Skill / Ability 4 :
Familiarity with electronic medical record data.
Required Skill / Ability 5 :
Proficient at working in a team environment as well as completing self-directed independent projects. Demonstrates leadership skills to complete projects; Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
