What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barback position at Yardbird DC?
The Barback is responsible for assisting the Bartender to ensure the bar remains fully operational at all times. This role requires an energetic, friendly, and service-oriented attitude.
Essential Duties
- Restock liquor, mixers, and all necessary garnishes for the bar.
- Assist with tasks such as clearing empty glasses, cups, and waste from the bar top.
- Maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the bar (e.g., wiping surfaces, pushing chairs in, organizing drink menus, arranging salt and pepper shakers, etc.).
- Regularly check the condition of the restrooms to ensure quality control.
- Thoroughly clean restrooms at the end of each shift.
- Clean up liquid spills and any other accidents as needed.
- Ensure bartenders have clean cloths for wiping and cleaning at all times.
- Wash glasses, cups, and plates in the designated area following established health and safety procedures.
- Ensure bartenders have a constant supply of clean glasses.
- Check the availability of ice in the designated storage areas.
- Assist bartenders in maintaining liquor inventory.
- Follow procedures for opening, closing, and handling keys for each shift.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by smiling and answering any questions they may have.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience as a barback or in table cleaning and maintenance is preferred.
- Ability to perform well under pressure.
- Detail-oriented and cleanliness-focused.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must have a flexible schedule (may be required to work late shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed).
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Work Conditions
